Memoria, Mito y Transformación,
a major exhibition at the Centro Cultural Carmen Solá de Pereira
in Ponce, Puerto Rico.
The exhibition brings together large-scale paintings exploring
cultural memory, ancestral presence, spirituality, mythology,
identity and transformation.
Rooted in Martínez's Puerto Rican heritage and shaped by decades
of artistic practice connected to Puerto Rico and Chicago,
the exhibition approaches memory not simply as something belonging
to the past, but as a living force through which personal and
collective histories continue to transform.

University of Puerto Rico Biennial
Oscar Luis Martínez has been selected to participate in the
2026 University of Puerto Rico Biennial.
The Biennial participation continues Martínez's renewed engagement
with Puerto Rico's artistic and cultural community and places his
work within a broader dialogue surrounding contemporary art,
cultural identity, memory, spirituality and the evolving
Puerto Rican experience.

Exhibition at the Evanston Art Center
Second Floor Main and Atrium Galleries
The Evanston Art Center has formally offered Oscar Luis Martínez
a position in its exhibition schedule from November 4 through
December 10, 2028.
Martínez's work is planned for presentation in the
Second Floor Main and Atrium Galleries.
The exhibition will provide an opportunity to present a substantial
body of Martínez's work in the Chicago area, continuing the dialogue
between his Puerto Rican heritage, his long artistic history in
Illinois, and the themes of cultural memory, spirituality,
migration and transformation that have shaped his practice.

Illinois Arts Council Creative Catalyst Grant
Oscar Luis Martínez received an Illinois Arts Council
Creative Catalyst grant supporting the continued development
and documentation of his artistic practice.
The $8,310 award represents important support for the continued
documentation and presentation of Martínez's work and his
longstanding contribution to the arts in Illinois.

The Visionary Art of Oscar Luis Martínez
Between Memory and Metamorphosis
is a major full-color monograph documenting more than five decades
of Oscar Luis Martínez's artistic practice.
Through paintings, curatorial interpretation and historical
context, the publication traces the development of a visual
language centered on Puerto Rican cultural memory, migration,
spirituality, ancestral presence, identity and transformation.
Designed for collectors, curators, museums, universities and
cultural institutions, the 9 × 12 inch publication contains
64 full-color pages and is available in hardcover and softcover
editions.
